Independiente Medellin made the trip to Portugal to face fellow Division 2 promotion heroes Setubal and just about took all 3 points in a Tim Howard inspired performance, making it 5 wins on the bounce for the League & Cup winners.

A lively opening for the visitors saw Medellin on the front foot, probing their way for an opener. Fans found themselves celebrating prematurely in the 16th minute when a Rojas cross fell beautifully in the box for Illarramendi, who chose to display all of his defensive skills with a horrific attempt at a volley. In the 41st it was the Colombians again with the opportunity to open proceedings, Paloschi feeding in Pazzini who could only put his effort straight at the keeper.

With Medellin just about shading the 1st half but with nothing to show for it, Setubal rang the changes, making no fewer than 3 subs. Such a bold move looked to prove costly as Pirlo played a succession of 1-2's to fire a deflected effort beyond Zengin. Just 7 minutes later and the El Equipo del Pueblo (The People's Team) found themselves 2 up, Puch spotting Pazzini in acres of space in the box and sticking one on the veterans head with ease.

With the fans all but getting their cigars out, Setubal went full tilt and pushed the Colombians back. On 70 minutes a close range effort from Sakho was parried from Howard whilst Sakho was at it again just 3 minutes later, forcing Howard to dive to his right to parry the well struck effort away. At the 3rd attempt Sakho finally got his goal, putting it through the legs of the American on 80 minutes to reduce the deficit. With Medellin struggling to get out of their own half, a free kick on 87 minutes was again saved well from Howard before Pazzini had the chance to give the scoreline a flattering look at the death, criminally missing yet another 1 on 1 opportunity.
