The Brewers welcomed Doms West Ham to the Pirelli for their first ever match in division one. Despite the game finishing 0-0 the game was packed with plenty of action and chances for both sides. The first half was a close contests and both teams finding space to pass and move around the pitch. Around the half way point in the first half both teams had a good chance with a header. Burtons being from a cross that went to the back post but the man could only head the ball over the bar from close range. West Ham's came from a corner, and the header from Nordveit was from a good distance and went just over the bar. The lack of quality was showing in the first half as shots from distance went high and wide, and shots from close range were scuffed. The 2nd half saw West Ham come out with a bit more of a punch to their game. At around the hour mark the chance of the game (so far) happened for West Ham. A cross to the near post came to Afellay whos header missed the target and hit the side netting. Shortly after the Brewers got more into the game and got themselves a couple of great chances to get on the score sheet. The first came to Bystrov who got the ball passed to him in the box and in front of goal with only the keeper to beat who pulled a good stop to keep the hammers level. Then the next one came on the 84th min when Gaston made a good run into the box, got the ball passed to him and shot first time, but his shot hit the outside of the post!! The last few mins of the game saw hammers get a free kick from shooting distance but Rafael saved well, then a couple of corners that Burton just about managed.
