Lyon's winning start to the season came @Crash151ing down to earth with a 3-1 defeat. Both keepers were playing well in the first half keeping the ball out, until the 35' min when Guidetti was put through to pass the ball in from 5 yards out. The game carried on through with both teams missing chances. Lyon were chasing for the equaliser and went to a more attacking style which ended up being a mistake as a similar ball as the first goal saw Nguyen running and scoring from point blank range. The 3 points were sealed for Real with Wood sticking his head on to a corner ball in the 89' min. Werner grabbed nice volley consolation goal in the 90' min to keep up his record of scoring in every game so far this season.

Well played Crash, catch you in the return fixture for REVENGE  .

Real Madrid came into the season hoping to rebound from a really poor season 13 and get promoted back to the Prem.  The first game of the season was a trip to French side Lyon and a stacked team that includes Werner, Donnarumma, Quaresma and Pulisic.  Getting a scouting report from Agent Jakey :shifty:, Real Madrid scrapped their preseason formation to go with one that gave more help defensively to deal with the pace and ability of the opponents.  It almost backfired and Howard made a great save in the 7th to keep the game level and Madrid were on their heels a bit but were eventually able  to start getting some passing going and keep the potent Lyon offense at bay. In the 35th some nice passing from Rojas put Big John Guidetti alone in front of goal and he buried it to take the lead.  Pretty much a midfield battle after that until Guidetti was able to put Lee Nguyen through on goal and the Yank shot it past Donnarumma to double the lead.  Bobby Wood tacked on a 3rd from a corner in the last minutes of the game before Lyon finally scored a goal which they should have had earlier in the match.

Well played man, got some bounces to go my way in this one.  Good luck with your team and see you in the back half!!
