For a very even game the score line couldn’t be more deceptive. Early goals from Zurutuza and Ari got the ball rolling for the home team, with Zurutuza hitting home from just inside the box and smashing to the top corner, before Ari slid one home after moments later bringing a fantastic save out of Esser.

A lot of huffing and puffing after that, but no end product from either team and half time the score remained 2-0. After half time, it seemed the away side had everything to prove and after wave on wave of attacks, Valencia was found free to tap passed the stranded keeper to claw one back. 2-1 and game on.

Shortly after they could have equalised but a game effort was kept out by Ousted, and they were then punished for the wastefulness in front of goal when Hurtado beat the offside trap and tapped one into the bottom corner to make it 3-1. A push for a way back into the game was denied, first by the keepers face after a deflected shot bounced off his head, and the ball fell kindly to Valencia only to be denied by the post in what looked to be a certain goal.

After such a tight game, it was made to look more one sided than it was when Bernard capitalised on his pinball wizardry to get on the end of a bobbling ball to head into an empty net after a goal line clearance wasn’t dealt with.
